Free Furlough Leave Agreement Letter

A furlough leave agreement letter is a letter used to give a member of staff notice that you intend to put them on furlough leave under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, request their consent to you doing so and get their written agreement that they will stop working for your business during their period of leave. It will also set out the arrangements that will be in place during their period of leave. It might also be referred to as a furlough notice, a furlough agreement or a furlough arrangements letter.

The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme allows employers to designate staff as ‘furloughed workers’ and to claim a grant of 80% of their wages, up to a maximum of £2,500. This is designed to prevent employers from having to make redundancies during the COVID-19 pandemic. This letter can be used by employers to obtain the consent of a staff member to be placed on leave, and sets out the arrangements that will apply, including the Government prohibition against furloughed workers carrying out any work for their employer.
