Free Furlough Leave Agreement Letter for a staff member who has been made redundant

You can use this furlough leave agreement letter for a staff member who has been made redundant, where you would like to rescind their redundancy notice and place them on furlough leave instead, so that you can take advantage of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. This is permitted for redundancies made from 1 March 2020 onwards.

This template enables you to obtain the staff member’s consent to re-engagement, as well consenting to be put onto furlough leave and to changes to their contract during the leave. This includes getting their written agreement that they will stop working for your business during their period of furlough leave.

This sort of letter might also be referred to as a furlough notice, a furlough agreement or a furlough arrangements letter.

The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme allows employers to designate staff as ‘furloughed workers’ and to claim a grant of 80% of their wages, up to a maximum of £2,500. This is designed to prevent employers from having to make redundancies during the COVID-19 pandemic.
